The Felice Brothers

I'm at the office and I'm bored. So I decided why not get around to reviewing a band that is going to be playing here at The Firebird on June 18?

The Felice Brothers are from the catskill mountains but you can go to their website and read all about them yourself. Unless of course you can't read. But then I guess you would have no idea what this says either.

You can also head over to their myspace page and listen to a few tracks. It's very old sounding folk music with traces of Bob Dylan and Springsteen's Nebraska album. While I really dug the first song on their page, The Big Surprise, I did think to myself that I don't think I could see a live show this gloomy. Luckily the next song still has that raw feel, but picks up the pace.

So check the stuff out. If you like what you hear go to the show.

Hey Jeff,

I just stumbled across your blog...and have to give you some insight on the Felice Brothers: there is nothing gloomy about a live Felice Bros show! They put on a raucous affair that is great fun...do yourself a favor and check them out. I was very surprised myself the first time I saw them live a couple of years ago - and had so much fun I've seen them 8 or 9 times since. So you and your readers should give them a chance - you'll be glad you did...
