Sometimes

I love music. I listen to music all the time, everyday.

But sometimes I feel so dumb.

Like today, suddenly a song came on in some remix I was listening to. It's a song that I'd listened to hundreds of times. It's by Bluetip.

No it isn't. They were doing a cover.

And not by some odd obscure band. A cover of a B-52's song.

Problem is I never listened to the B-52's.

So I learned something new today. And felt a little dumb in doing so.

The music that makes you feel dumb.

I did not know 'The man who sold the world' by Nirvana was a David Bowie cover.

This happened to me 6 minutes ago.

great observational post...

hahah some of my favorite bands I've found by a crappier band doing a cover of it, like I'll get a new album and be like "there is really only this one song I like on it, it's weird because it's so good you'd figure I'd like something else on it too if I like that one song so much!" and the answer is almost always that it's a cover of another song.

Also, I really like that since I started listening to KZQZ 1430 AM, I've gotten to hear the original versions of pop songs from the 50's that punk bands were covering in the 70s and 80s, like The Saints' "Lipstick On Your Collar" is a cover of Connie Francis.
