Friends of mine will be talking about someone they know and they always say to me, "you'd like them."
No I wouldn't.
While most people out there give new people they meet the benefit of the doubt, I always assume that people I meet are assholes and they stay that way until they prove otherwise. Don't get me wrong I can get along with a lot of people, but everyone starts off on my bad side. This way I am never disappointed only pleasantly surprised when new people prove me wrong and turn out to be cool. This may not be the best way to go about things but the reason you may think that may be what makes you a douche bag.

Not really. Mostly just pesimistic. So I assume the worst of people. Whatever.
I go into new relationships very optimistic. Most of the time, my optimism does not pay off. Also, my first impressions of people are usually always wrong. So, I've learned that if I really like someone at first, to reserve my 'judgement' of them until I get to know them better. More than likely they'll turn out to be a total idiot.
I too am an optimist.
I think people often are mistaken on their 1st impressions for 2 main reasons...
1. Date face: people are not being truly themselves until a couple of meetings. You have to look for the subtle 'asshole moves' that will uncover the idiot.
2. Our optimism compells us to look for the good, often overlooking the obvious idiot traits...unless of course, they are shameless idiots
that's not what makes me a douchebag. other stuff makes me a douchebag. i stumbled on here from the fbc...i like bikes and booze.it's, as i'm sure you know, not a commonplace pairing so when i see some likeminded folks i check them out in the hopes that we may be friends and ride(hard) and drink(hard). but, then they always find out that i'm a douchebag. or an asshat- i was that one time.
I love asshats.
