So the place I was talking to gave me the generic rejection letter.
Just once I would love a place to be honest. Tell me you hate me. Tell me you think I suck. Tell me you think I'm nuts for thinking I could handle the position you are interviewing for, but just don't give me the:
"Hello Jeff, XXXX would like to thank you for your interest in the XXXX position. We feel you have a many skills, and qualities we were looking for to succeed in this particular position. However we have decided to peruse other candidates. We will definitely keep your information on file and if another position opens up with the challenges and direction you are looking for, we will contact you."
What is especially wrong with this form email is the last sentence. How do they know what I am looking for? What I was looking for was the job you had open. So unless that job is open again and you decide that you made the wrong choice to not hire me the first time, I don't expect to be hearing from you unless you happen to be a mind reader and knew something about what I was looking for that I didn't know myself. And if that's the case than I don't want to work at a place with mind readers. I think it would get me in a lot of trouble.
