Let me start off saying I have always gotten very good service from Dobbs. So this is not one of my typical rants about a place that the service pissed me off so much that I will never go there again.
I recently bought a new car. It is black. I got the windows tinted black. So I want to buy black wheels for it. I thought this would seem to be a simple thing to do. All you see around are cars with custom wheels. I really didn't want to buy them online with nothing more than a jpeg to convince me to drop the cash. And I would need a place to swap the tires from my stock wheels anyway.
So I searched for a place to get wheels. Went to one place and they didn't carry any black wheels and they didn't seem keen on trying to order any. Well in my online search I found a brand I liked and Dobbs was listed as an official dealer.
So last Saturday I stop in the Dobbs by my house. They couldn't get me pricing on a Saturday but they took me to a kick ass computer kiosk they have. They brought up a side view of my car, made it the correct color, tinted the windows and showed me how to see what wheels were available and the computer would show me what they looked like on the car. It was kick ass. They told me when I found ones I liked what numbers to write down so they could get me a price. I spent at least 45 minutes on this computer. It was so cool.
Yesterday I called them to give them my list to price out. They transferred me to the correct guy, he took my list and my name and number and told me he would get back to me with the prices.
I didn't hear from them so I called to check on it today. Well today I get a different guy, who tells me that of my list he can only get one of the brands I liked and his distributor doesn't have that model anymore. He tells me they basically have only a couple brands that they can get. I explain to him that I got all the info from their in-store computer. He tells me he doesn't know why they had all those brands in the system, because they can't get them.
So that sucked. Each person I dealt with was very nice and courteous. But Dobbs obviously needs to fix their system.
I think I may have found a custom car place on Watson that can help me. I will keep my fingers crossed.
Also I went and paid the taxes and got my plate for the new car. That always sucks. I hate having to write a check that big to the DMV. But the office in Deer Creek Plaza is the best DMV in town. Nice people and never crowded. It was so not crowded when I pulled up I feared that they closed for lunch. But they were open. And fast and nice.
