So some dumbasses steal a tip jar from a Starbucks and end up killing a guy.

There is a 20 thousand dollar reward. So I would expect that their own friends will turn them in. Because if these two are willing to run someone over and kill them for $5.20 then I am sure their friends will rat them out for 20K.
