Worst Behavior Ever

The plan was to take Jett to get his hair cut first thing this morning, then with his promise of good behavior, we would go to the toy store and he could get a new hot wheels track. Sure it was bribery, but you gotta do what you gotta do. And since he has historically been less than stellar when getting his hair cut it was what had to be done.

When we got there he talked about how good he was going to be. There were three other little kids in there getting their hair cut. I made sure to point out that they were being good and not crying.

His turn came up. He walked to the chair, got in, got the cape draped over him. All seemed good.

Ha. Was I wrong.

The moment the stylist started to wet his hair the squirming and screaming started. Now last time when he did this I was able to reason with him about being good and the reward of a new track. This time there was no listening. Just screaming.

And it was loud.

We ended up him sitting on my lap, arms wrapped around him tight as I can and holding his head still as possible, all while he screamed bloody murder and tried to get loose.

We ended up with a shitty haircut, and me more pissed at him then I have ever been.

He got down and asked to go get his toy. He was sadly mistaken.

We went directly home. He was put in time out. He was also told while he can play today, that I would not play anything with him all day.

Sucks.

what a novel idea, a parent doing exactly what they said they would...
too often parents cave in and get the toy anyway.
sticking to your guns early on prepares the kid for later on in life.
good on ya.
