Last day for coworkers stories:
Attempted to run for publicity director for student council in high school. Thought I had it nailed because the other guy was part of the freak party that wore black all the time and took nothing but art classes. All the position was was to make posters for different events during the year. Had to get up in front of the entire class (260 people) and answer questions by last year’s publicity guy and promote myself. I was gung –ho about it. Had to get up to the mike first. The pub guy from last year’s STUCO asked “What else would you do besides the normal things to build publicity around an event?”
Oh and I shot up. The whole time walking to the mike wondering what I was going to say. Nobody ever did anything besides posters for any event. I was a high schooler-I didn’t know anything else but that.
Once I was up there I stammered and then silence. My mind went blank. I realized I don’t like getting up in front of people. After what seemed like 10 minutes of silence, I heard my friend yell “YEEAHHH” and just start clapping. Then the whole crowd started clapping and cheering and I walked off the stage. The other guy just bullshitted some stuff but I don’t remember what he said.
I didn’t get the job. I was too busy senior year to do it anyway. Or at least that’s what I told myself.
