It's been in heavy rotation on HBO recently and I watch at least part of it every time I surf past the channel it's on.
I am talking about The Bad News Bears. The original from 1976, not that hunk of shit remake with Billy Bob.
I think I would go as far as place this movie in my top 20 of all time. The story is timeless, the acting is good, and it's a movie that couldn't be made today. It is very non PC. But it captures how kids talk and act. It was before product placement. Walter Mathau drinks at least 5 different brands of beer in the movie. And while it doesn't end tragic, it certainly doesn't have some bad hollywood ending that would be done today.
So scoff all you like, but I would say go give this movie a look and I think you will see that it's pretty damn good.
You may not love it as much as I, but I played on a little league team that we kids named The Bears because of this movie and this was when the movie was in theaters.

Also one of my all time favorites. It ranks up there with my other movies that jackie can't stand but i love, including pee wees big adventure, roadhouse, and the karate kid - all of which i can't pass up when they are on. i'm watching the karate kid right now on vh1.
