Do you know enough to be a citizen?

The following questions are from "Learn About The United States: Quick Civics Lesson," by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Questions:

1. Who elects the president of the United States?

2. What are the three branches of our government?

3. What is the supreme law of the United States?

4. What were the original 13 states?

5. Who was the main writer of the Declaration of Independence?

6. What group has the power to declare war?

7. What are the first 10 amendments to the Constitution called?

8. Name one right or freedom guaranteed by the First Amendment?

9. What kind of government does the United States have?

10. What is the most important right granted to United States citizens?

Answers are in the comments section. Although I would strongly disagree with the answer of question #10.

1. The Electoral College.

2. Executive, Judicial, and Legislative.

3. The Constitution.

4. Virginia, Massachusetts, Maryland, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, North Carolina, South Carolina, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Georgia.

5. Thomas Jefferson.

6. Congress.

7. The Bill of Rights.

8. Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Assembly, and the Right to Petition the Government for a Redress of Grievances.

9. A republic.
