This spot is getting a lot of hate from the snobby ad world. I like it. It caught my attention and made me remember who the spot was for. More than most spots do now. How many times have you loved a commercial but could not remember who the hell it was for?

That reminds me of the breakfast club movie. its my dads favorite.
the lens flare is kind of lame at the end, but when i saw this on tv, i thought it was really cool that they directed those kids so well and styled the set so well...I don't know if anyone else thought this but I think the automatic doors are cool because it makes you think they just got done shopping...
Good catch on the sliding doors. I think they did a good job of working to appeal to young teens and using the retro movie tie-in will appeal to 40 somethings who grew up with the movie, and make them think of JC Penny as a viable option for their kids. Is it perfect? No. But Has it made people talk about it? Yes.

The remake of the song sucked. Hopefully, the spot will bring Kmart more business though.
I think the font needs work. Comic Sans, perhaps.
I liked it too, I agree that the song wasn't so great, but maybe I should ask my 14 year old nephew if that band is cool? Kidding about that part.
