Sometimes being a guy is hard. When things go wrong around the house all eyes turn to you to fix it. Recently our pilot light on the hot water heater has been going out. It did that when we first moved in here, but then it had no problems for 5 years. That is until this past week.
It went out 3 times today. So I looked up online what it could be. I had never fixed a hot water heater. The first possible issue seemed to point towards the thermocouple. So I first had to figure out what the hell that is. Once I did that, I took off the thermocouple, went to the hardware store, bought a new one and put it on.
It went off again. Damn.
So I re-lit it again. Hopefully it will stay on. Or next up is cleaning the pilot jet which sounds annoying.
