So riding a bike - or scooter or in-line skates - without a helmet is illegal for anyone younger than 17 in Massachusetts.
While it might be safer, I along with countless other people managed to live through life not wearing helmets. I remember when I was first skateboarding and my mom bought me knee, elbow pads and a helmet. I'd put them on inside and take them off as soon as I got outside.
We don't need laws like this.
Want to wear a helmet? Wear one.
Don't want to wear one? Don't.
It should be up to the individual and the parents.
The cops should really have better things to be looking out for.
