Well at least it is for Jett for now.
We were really excited about him getting selected to go to the magnet schools, since they did so well for his older brother.
But going from staying with Grandma all day everyday to 8 hours of being one of 18 kids didn't sit well with him. And we decided that a place with half day preschool would suit him far more.
So now we will start touring a few schools we have looked into. And see when he could start. Then maybe next year he will be ready to head back to the magnet schools.
We need to keep in mind he is only 3. So he has plenty of time till he needs to start his school career.
Things sure have changed since I was a kid.

Soulard School rules! Check them out! My ex boyfriend Michael teaches part time to the 4 and 5 year olds (and some of the ahead of the curve 3 year olds that'll turn 4 before the school year is over) and my good friend Genevieve teaches part time as the studio art and after care specialist, she worked at white flag with me...their pre k is really full but I'd try it anyways, they've got really great teachers and they teach the kids to interact with one another in respectable ways, including not doing 'sing songy' thank you's when they all say thank you in a group, and they're 'alternative' without being undisciplined crazy brats.
Also I have no personal experience other than knowing a substitute and a few alumni from New City School, but those kids all seem super considerate and aware... when I worked a fundraiser they threw at city museum, even in an environment where excitement runs so high, they were all very apologetic if they were scolded for breaking the rules.
Thank you very much for the suggestions. We will look into the Soulard school.
