Since I got my first job at age 15, I have had countless crazy work experiences. From good to bad, looking back the one thing they all have in common is now they all seem very comical.
I almost don't know which one to start with.
Since I just started reading Kitchen Confidential, I will start with a few antics from when my friend Steve and I worked at a restaurant together. This was pretty much right after high school, neither of us had gone off to college and really had no real plan as to what we wanted to do. The stories range from when I asked Steve to hand me a knife and he did so by stabbing it through the hair of a woman standing between us. Or the rubber glove we filled with mayonnaise and hid on top of a cooler for the night cleaning crew to find. But the most insane was the dishwasher who was caught and fired for masturbating while washing dishes.
One day it was just the soup cook and the dishwasher left for the afternoon. She told us she thought he was masturbating under his apron. None of us really believed her. Then the next day during lunch rush, there was a rustling sound coming from the dish station. Well he was doing it. It was hilarious and vile all at the same time. The owner fired him that day. I really wish I could've heard what she said to him. It had to be so uncomfortable since she was this rich prissy woman.
