Red Light Cameras

I hate them.

Let it be known that I don't run red lights, so where they really don't affect me I hate the idea of them. Obviously with them, people still run red lights, so the whole safety angle is sort of bullshit. They are a revenue maker, plain and simple.

Recently my wife was caught on one of the cameras on Hampton. I wasn't thrilled that we were going to have to pay a $100 ticket. Just as I was about to mail the check to the city, my wife stopped me and she remembered what the deal was on that night. She was headed to a class, she had forgotten about the work to highway 40 at Hampton. That evening they were doing some construction that had the stop lights flashing red. So she had not run a red light. She as all the other drivers were treating the flashing red as a stop sign. Stopping, waiting their turn, then proceeding.

One would think that when the lights go to flashing red the stupid cameras would be shut off.

I wonder how many people got tickets sent to them who will just pay it.

It's just stupid.
