Office Stories

Crazy things go on at the office. Personalities clash, practical jokes are played, good times are had, stressful times are had and all sorts of other dumb things happen.

At one job I was in my office with another co-worker interviewing a girl who was straight out of school.
She seemed nice and had decent talent. During this a voice came over my phone intercom, that the boss was on the line. I told them I was busy and would call him back.

The voice came across again. The boss wanted to talk then. I asked for the receptionist to find out what they wanted. Next thing I know is our receptionist was standing in the doorway to my office saying that the boss was demanding to be put on speaker phone right now. I once again asked her to just find out what they wanted. Once again the boss was demanding to be spoken to right then.

Well with all chance to not have my place of work look like it was run by a nut and scare off the girl I was interviewing I excused myself, and finally picked up the phone to see what the dire emergency was.

The boss yelled obscenities about how I should have answered right away. Several minutes of blah, blah, blah later, it turned out all they wanted was to know if a certain disc would be ready in an hour.

They very easily could've told our receptionist that message, to deliver to me.

But that's not how it went down. And if it had I wouldn't be able to type this story now.

So thanks old boss.
