Englishman

I'm at the office I am doing some freelance work at and playing hurry up and wait. I think I have looked at everything on the internet and therefore bored as hell.

I know what I'll do I think to myself. I will use this time to get off my lazy ass (metaphorically) and review the band Englishman that was sent to me earlier in the week. It seems I am in a habit of doing reviews when bored. Maybe this is a good thing since new music can always add excitement.

But I will say seconds before I started to listen to Englishman, I was listen to Bluetip.

And let me tell you the bands couldn't be more different.

Once my mind made the shift from driving punk rock to simple melancholy acoustic, I found myself digging Englishman.

I will admit I would need to be in the right mood to put this on. But when that mood hits I would say it could fill that same sort of musical craving that Beck's Sea Change might normally cover for me.

While Englishman play simple music it is far from lo-fi. It has layers and texture to it.

So next time you are in a mellow mood check them out. Or just do it now.

Really. Do it.
