So long ago I was going to keep track of tax I get charged during the course of one month as I buy stuff. I kept forgetting to start my experiment. Well this past month I did keep track.
This does not include any income tax on my salary. Nor does it include tax on groceries, since Nancy does the shopping.
This is just from the small purchases I make, coffee, lunch, beer, some dvds etc.
This month I did purchase a new digital camera but it wasn't crazy expensive.
So what was my total?
$92.87
Almost $100 just in tax. That seems pretty steep.
And if you would do some simple math, of 300 million people in the US times $50 each a month average. (being very liberal with that sum) You get 15 billion a month. 180 billion a year. And this includes no income tax figure in.
Yikes.

I also find it funny that there are 5 states that do not impose sales tax. However...California's sales tax can be up to 10.25%, which more than makes up for the 5 states that don't have any.
God Bless America.
