It's been a long week.
Busy at work and then throw in travel as well and the days blur together and I really feel tired. I sat down at the computer to do one last email check before I headed off to bed. It's when I remembered the email where I got sent the album The Shape of Energy by the band We All Have Hooks For Hands back at the end of September. I've been meaning to listen to it since I got it. Life has just gotten in the way. So I clicked play on the first track, answered one last work email and the next thing I knew track 8 of 10 was playing.
The album felt like something I have been listening to for years.
I'm sure some actual music critic could rattle off a slew of indie bands that they could compare contrast this band to. But what I hear is some weird tinge of The Beach Boys. Maybe it's just the high range echoey vocals, but it gives the music a kick ass quality.
I was very happy that the bands sound was as good as their name. Because a shitty band with a good name is such a waste.
They are playing at The Firebird Oct 18th.
