Ten Favorite Movies Of The Decade

I hate lists like this. I don't know why I'm doing this, but I guess I keep reading so many that I feel compelled. I have no real criteria for why I am choosing these 10, other than at this moment I think they are some of the best and my favorite movies I have seen this past 10 years.

Yes I am sure there is a ton that is amazing that I haven't even seen. So suggestions are welcome, but the list is the list.

So now in alphabetical order:

Black Hawk Down (2002)

The Dark Knight (2008)

The Devils Rejects (2005)

Dogtown And Z Boys (2001)

Elf (2003)

Into The Wild (2007)

Punch-Drunk Love (2002)

The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)

Unbreakable (2000)

Wall-E (2008)

Hey Jeff,
Why do you hate these lists?

What I hate about these lists is that they are written as anything more than opinion.

Things like Movies or music or books are very hard to truly say what is best. There is no actual basis. Even the Oscars are nothing more than peoples opinions on movies they are told they can vote on.

But I put this together mainly because I was interested in what I would choose, and lists like this or any list of a persons favorite things is a great insight into that person.

Your right about it being nothing more than opinion, but I like these lists because, if you happen to trusts the authors opinion you've got a bunch of movies to watch.

I also love it when famous movie critics do stuff like include Groundhog's Day on their list of the 10 Best American Films of All Time.

And I like looking at physical proof, in list form, that Peter Travers is a hack!

True. It does boil down to trusting the authors opinion.

But while it could lead to discovering new movies because of that person, there is also always the risk in discovering that you think the person might be insane and have no taste.

And yes when things like Groundhog day are included it helps se that someone is truthful and genuine rather than snobby and pretentious.
