So the academy award nominations were announced today. This is the first year that instead of 5 movies up for best picture they extended the list to 10. Why? So there will be more pictures that have no chance of winning? The list is:
Avatar
The Blind Side
District 9
An Education
The Hurt Locker
Inglourious Basterds
Precious: Based on the Novel “Push” by Sapphire
A Serious Man
Up
Up in the Air
I've seen two of those films.
In looking at all the films released in 2009, it was a bad year to try and come up with 10 movies worthy of a best picture nomination.
I will also continue my decision to not watch the Oscars this year as well. They have seemed to have grown more and more pretentious each year and I just can't bring myself to watch the 3+ hours of that nonsense. I have other nonsense to watch.
And how the hell did Where The Wild Things Are not get a nomination for costumes or make-up or best song?
