Movie Review

The House of the Devil-

It was made last year but takes place in the 80's. it feels like an 80's movie in every way. The details without feeling cheesy retro were great. My favorite being the main characters thick down mittens. I had forgotten about that craze till I saw them n this movie.

But it seems to me they focused on the small details and atmosphere being right and forgot that pacing and plot also matter.

I was fine that it was slow and building, but the build didn't pay off. There was no answer of why? It was an hour and a half movie that could have been told well in 20 minutes.

There were some good scenes, and the main girl was very cute to me. Only because she looked like many of my older sister's friends from that era who as a junior high school kid I had huge crushes on.

"Oh. You mean you're NOT the babysitter??"

I enjoyed the throwback feel and the movie's build up, but I agree... The last 15 minutes let the rest of the movie down.
