LOST And Schools

I watch LOST. I have since the very first episode. For the most part I like the show. There were some seasons that were more bad than good, but the good kept me coming back.

My oldest child has gone to the St. Louis public schools his whole school age life. He has always been in the magnet school program. I have seen some bad years in the district. But once again there was always enough good to keep me coming back.

So far LOST this season has kinda sucked in my opinion. It's the final season. They have a lot to answer, yet they've been meandering with the story line. If it wasn't the final season I would most likely stop watching.

My oldest child is in high school. If he wasn't so far along, I might also give up on the district.

If there is a spin off from LOST I don't think I will give it a chance. I've invested all I am willing in these characters, and where the writers are taking them.

My youngest child is on the waiting list for the magnet schools. We are moving to a new district with far fewer issues. I have lost the confidence to stick with taking our chances with the lottery year after year, and pay for private school in the meantime.

I can't wait for LOST to end. I am excited to see how it all wraps up, and plan to most likely be disappointed.

I also can't wait for my youngest to start at his new district. To get to live on a street with other kids who go to the same school.

I am disappointed that I have to be yet another person who leaves the city and a house and neighborhood that they love. But the fact that the city officials haven't figured out that this will continue to happen until the schools are on par with the great districts that are only minutes away from the city.

I've been watching Lost from the start as well. I don't think the new season is that bad since I didn't expect a lot of answers right away. They have promised over and over to actually end it well but I also don't expect it to wrap up nicely with a total answer.

Right now as of last night my theory is that the "sideways" story is the real world. The crash never did happen and that the events on the island are some kind of Twilight Zone mirror world that is the struggle they have in the "sideways" world. It's not nearly as cool as the island being a giant turtle that will one day lift off and fly back to outer space but for now that is what I'm guessing.

And don't feel badly about making choice to improve a situation. In my opinion the city shouldn't be part of the county but instead should be dismantled and made part of unincorporated St. Louis County eliminating the city government entirely. Then you might see new cities incorporate and become part of St. Louis county. But the "city" of St. Louis would be non existent.

Good day

"What is Islam?"
Islam is not a new religion, but the same truth that God revealed through all His prophets to every people. For a fifth of the world's population, Islam is both a religion and a complete way of life. Muslims follow a religion of peace, mercy, and forgiveness, and the majority have nothing to do with the extremely grave events which have come to be associated with their faith.
