The Oscars Confuse Me

So Argo won best picture.

I haven't seen it yet, but I do want to. I think the films Ben Affleck has directed have all been good to date.

But now he wasn't nominated for best director.
Nor was anyone in the film nominated for best actor or actress.

Alan Arkin was nominated for best supporting actor for his role in it. But he did not win.

It was not nominated for best cinematography or costumes.

It did also win for best editing and writing (adapted).

It was nominated for sound editing and mixing. But did not win.


So it was the best picture, but the director and actors seemingly had nothing to do with bring an award winning script to life.
