How To Drive On The Highway

I work downtown now.

So my commute is a bit longer than it had been in years. It's still not bad at all but could be far better if people understood some basic rules that if everyone followed, highway traffic would rarely be an issue.

Lets use a 6 lane highway as an example.

The right lane- for going the speed limit and under.

The middle lane- For going the speed limit and over. And to quickly pass a car in the right lane.

The left lane- For going over the speed limit only. And to quickly pass a car in the middle lane.

If everyone did this we'd all be happier.

If you are in the left lane going the speed limit or below, you are screwing up things for everyone. There is no reason for you to be in that lane (other than the super rare instances of a left lane exit).

And one more tip slow driving left lane people, if cars are riding your ass because you are driving slow, don't slow down to finally try to get over. Go ahead and step on the gas, speed up and get the hell out of the way.

Thanks.
