Movie Review

The D Train-

I wanted a mindless comedy to watch last night. So I figure one with Jack Black and Mike White would easily be it.

This was the brief description on IMDB:
The head of a high school reunion committee travels to Los Angeles to track down the most popular guy from his graduating class and convince him to go to the reunion.

The description was misleading.
The trailer was misleading.
The poster was misleading.
The tagline is misleading.

From here there will be spoilers because no one should waste their time seeing this movie.

So it starts off as a darker comedy, which I dig, so I was sticking with it. We then get to, Jack Black tracking down the popular guy who is “an actor” in LA, and they have their montage scene of a night of drinking, partying, strippers, etc.

They then go back to popular guys house... start to kiss, then have sex. It was unexpected, and I did wonder where the movie would go.

It went to shit. It wasn’t funny, it wasn’t serious, it was just kind of mean.

Dad cheats on his wife with another guy.
Dad ignores 14 year old son.
Dad is tormented by his “friends”.
Flippant jokes about 14 year olds girlfriend who wants to have a threesome.
Dad is a conniving lazy fool.
Dad ruins his job/company.

But then it all works out ok. Even after the sexual episode come to light in front of the whole reunion, after a brief bit of marriage is failing. Everything is cool, because they all learned about themselves.

This movie was confused, mis-marketed and boring.
