I was really looking forward to Inherent Vice when I first saw the trailer. I used to love Paul Thomas Anderson, although his last several movies fell short for me.
But this looked good. So much so that I decided to read the book before the movie came out.
I could not even come close to finishing the book. I hated it. Boring, convoluted, uninteresting.
So I was hoping the movie would add focus and through great performances and cinematography improve my experience.
Nope.
The movie was a confusing mess. I made it maybe 40 minutes in to the 2.5 hour runtime and could not take another second.
