Having all the information on the web is a great thing if you're looking to buy a new car. Although the car dealers may not agree. It's great when your kids need that little bit of extra help with homework.
But it can also tell us too much. Do we all over self-diagnose health problems. Just because we have access doesn't mean we have knowledge. Do we jump on the band wagon for whatever new disorder may be affecting our children? Little Johnny didn't respond when I called them, let me look it up... Oh No! They're Autistic!
Do we really need to know where every sex offender lives?
I think a lot of this is making us raise a nation of wimps. It's really no more dangerous out there than it was 40 years ago. I would bet if you looked at crime stats, child disorders, etc. and took into consideration the growth in population there would be little difference in the numbers.
A lot of good can be had from access to information, but it can be a huge pain in the ass too.

actually statistics show that this is the safest time EVER in the history of the world. so we can blame the media and the 24 hour news cycle for making people terrified to leave their homes.
