40 Hours

The 40 hour work week has been around since 1945. THink of all the things that have changed since then, but the magical 40 hours has stayed the same. I ran across this blog about working fewer hours. France had been on a 35 hour work week for 10 years, but it seems it will be coming to an end.

While I can't speak for every industry, I know that in the advertising world, there are weeks where you need to work more than 40 hours but then there are the ones that you can get everything done in 20 hours. One would think that some industries could start to toy with a schedule that would allow for such flex.

It would seem if you let employees go when they have met the deadlines/obligations of the day, rather than pay them to sit at a desk and surf the internet.

I don't know what the answer is, but it would seem we are due for another huge change.
